Dr. Schneider is managing the Neurodegenerative Diseases Laboratory at the Brain Mind Institute and is a lecturer at the School of Life Sciences and the Doctoral Program in Neuroscience at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL).
Dr. Schneider’s research is focused on the study of neurodegenerative diseases including Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), in particular towards the development of ex vivo and in vivo gene therapy approaches where he investigates the use of AAV vector technologies to deliver transgenes to specific populations of cells inside the brain and the spinal cord. He has published numerous peer reviewed research articles in the field. Bernard has successfully developed and managed several translational collaborations with industry.
